Huawei Announces Which Devices will get EMUI 8.0 with Android Oreo

It’s always exciting when your phone gets a software update, and it’s something that Android enthusiasts look forward to with great anticipation. Huawei debuted the newest version of its in-house Android skin, Emotion UI (EMUI) 8.0, alongside the Mate 10 series in late 2017, and since then, folks in the community have been wondering about when their phones might get it. So far, we’ve seen it roll out to some Huawei and Honor phones, but there hasn’t been much communication from Huawei. That changed this week, thankfully, with a post from the company on Chinese social network Weibo detailing which devices will get the Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 update.

Here’s a list of devices that are slated to receive Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 in the coming weeks:

Huawei didn’t supply a timeline, unfortunately — it’s unclear when owners of those devices can expect the update to roll out. But if nothing else, it’s good to see a confirmed list of phones for the EMUI 8.0.

Since the introduction of EMUI 8.0 alongside the Huawei Mate 10 series, we’ve noticed a lot of people in XDA’s Huawei forums wondering if their device would get the update. Not only does EMUI 8.0 come with new first-party features from Huawei, but it’s based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Last year saw devices including the Chinese Honor 8 Pro and the Chinese Huawei Mate 9 receive the new EMUI 8.0 over-the-air update, and the company capped off 2017 with a rollout of EMUI 8.0 to the Honor 9 and Honor 9V via Huawei’s early adopters program. Just recently, the company brought the update to the Honor 8 Pro, Honor 9i, Honor 7X, and Honor 8 Lite, and this week announced that the Honor 8 is slated to receive it.

Judging by Huawei’s latest announcement, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
